150,000 Construction Jobs Are To Be Created Over Next 5 Years

A total of 150,000 constructions jobs are reported to be created over 5 years

A forecast from the Construction Industry Training Board has reported a total of 150,000 constructions are set to be created within the next 5 years, despite Brexit and the collapse of Carillion

The housebuilding sector saw the biggest growth with a total of 15,350 carpenters needed along with 9,350 labourers, to complete the vast amount of construction jobs needed. Managerial roles are also expected to see a huge boost in growth with professional and managerial roles growing by 7.8% and 5.6%

Infrastructure remains a strong sector in growth with an annual addition of 3.1%, along with housing output both private and publicly.

“CITB Policy Director Steve Radley said, “Despite all the gloom around Carillion and uncertainty from Brexit, our report’s message is that construction will continue to grow and create more jobs.”

Steve Radley goes on to say that employment within the sector will be near the peak of 2008, but will be faced with “massive recruitment and training challenge” due to Brexit.
